Wisconsin Department of Revenue to offer an electronic levy solution

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) has announced that financial institutions will have the opportunity to respond to DOR levies electronically.

The DOR e-Levy project began in October 2012 after a meeting with financial institution representatives, including credit unions. In the meeting, there was overwhelming support for an electronic levy solution. DOR modified its My Tax Account application which allows financial institutions to submit both levy payments and non-payment responses.

A few financial institutions are currently using the system as part of a pilot before it is made available to all financial institutions.

According to the agency, the benefits to using the online application include:

  • Efficiency – spend less time by processing your levies electronically
  • User friendliness – filter and sort data to help you manage your levies
  • Security – your data is encrypted and protected
  • Cost savings – save on printing, paper, check, and postage costs

An e-Levy User Guide  that provides step-by-step instructions and two short training videos are available on the DOR website to help you get set up and familiarize you with the payment and response process.
