This release describes the Federal Servicemembers’ Civil Relief Act (formerly known as the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act) and a parallel Wisconsin Act. Both provide special protections for military personnel.
Closely related to the SCRA is the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). It requires an employer to accommodate a veteran returning to his or her prior job.
The Wisconsin Statutes provide similar protection to employees returning from active state service.
