NEWS:  Today, the NCUA announced that the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) is hosting a webinar on November 7 to discuss the new FFIEC IT Examination Handbook Development, Acquisition, and Maintenance Booklet.

As the NCUA wrote:

Online registration for this industry outreach event is now open. The webinar is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Eastern and is expected to run approximately one hour.

If you are unable to hear the audio portion of the event through the link above, the following number can be used as a backup: 202.735.3323 (toll number) or 888.978.8818 (toll free number); access code 5198894#.

The FFIEC members revised and renamed the Development and Acquisition booklet to Development, Acquisition, and Maintenance to reflect the changing technological environment and increasing need for security and resilience, including developmental design, acquisition and procurement, and maintenance and change control processes for information technology systems. It also provides examiners with fundamental examination expectations regarding developmental quality controls, acquisition and procurement planning and execution, governance and risk management, and maintenance and change control practices of regulated entities.

Webinar participants are encouraged to submit questions in advance by emailing FFIECRegistration@FDIC.gov. The email’s subject line should read, “FFIEC IT Handbook Webinar.”

The new booklet is just one in a series of IT-related booklets that make up the FFIEC’s “Information Technology Examination Handbook.” For additional information, please refer to this recent Compliance Courier.
