NEWS: The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) – an organization made up of federal financial institution regulators, including the NCUA – has published an updated Cybersecurity Resource Guide for Financial Institutions.
The programs and tools in the September 2022 guide are meant to help financial institutions meet their security control objectives and prepare to respond to cyber incidents.
“In recent years, ransomware incidents have become increasingly prevalent,” the new guide says. “These incidents continue to evolve in severity and complexity impacting the financial sector and other critical infrastructure organizations. To address this evolving threat, the resource guide now includes ransomware-specific resources to address this ongoing threat.”
The new guide replaces a version released in October 2018. Using the tools and resources in the guide is voluntary. The FFIEC and its member organizations do not endorse the listed entities or tools identified in the guide.
