Credit unions and Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs) that are Federally Registered are required to renew their registration using the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) following the streamlined renewal processes defined in this handbook. The renewal period in NMLS begins November 1 and ends December 31 of each year. During this time, credit unions will review a roster of MLOs eligible for renewal and initiate the renewal process for MLOs employed by the credit union. After a credit union submits an MLO’s renewal request the MLO will have to attest to their record to complete the renewal process.
